The 1808-8 SPS BWX Weather Resistant Black Widow Speaker from Peavey is designed to accommodate a wide range of sound reinforcement, high level playback and subwoofer and monitor applications. It has 8 ohm impedance and a frequency range of 35 Hz to 1 kHz. The voice coil is made of aluminum ribbon wire, bonded onto a durable, heat resistant polyimide composite former. The coil wires are solderless diffusion welded to high conductivity OFHC copper foil leads, which are embedded inside the former assembly and soldered to the tinsel leads with high temperature silver solder. The joint is coated with a thermally conductive silicone adhesive for encapsulation and dissipation. This voice coil assembly is bonded to the weather resistant cone and nylon composite spider using a thermoset epoxy and the spider and surround are bonded to the frame with a high strength toughened adhesive.
